So I figured since we didn’t post of the whole summer, I have some catching up to do! After Mark graduated and I ended my first year of teaching, we thought the summer would be a breeze. It wasn’t necessarily a breeze but it was definitely refreshing. Mark worked at Central as an intern and doing lighting stuff. I worked at Central in the Nursery. I really loved this job. The people I worked with were great and once I had the hang of it, it was lots of fun. I miss some of the sweet kids we had there!
We also both took our first seminary class. It was an on-line, Intro to Missions class from Southwestern and it came with lots and lots of work. This fact was a little shocking for me. We got a late start on the class because it started while I was finishing up teaching so the whole summer we played catch up. Truly by the grace of God I finished that class. We really loved this class and all of the things we had to read. Some things were a little boring but for the most part we feel like we learned so much. From this class, we both realized that we feel called to Urban church planting overseas. We knew the church planting overseas but this really clarified for us that we were called to cities. Our professor had been a missionary in W. Africa and we really enjoyed all of his stories, plus he was so passionate about missions. Overall, I really loved this class despite the work load.
During the summer, we moved to a smaller apartment to avoid the rising prices of apartments here in College Station. We love our new apartment because it feels so cozey compared to the old one. Plus we live near a lot of International students! We had to get rid of some furniture (minor pieces of furniture) to make it all work but I am really thankful we did. Craig’s list was a huge help for this!
Well, enough recapping for now. I think next time I will post about some of our travels during the summer!
